Sulphur Mayor Mike Danahay addressed the current situation of the city s water issues due to the winter storm blanketing SWLA.
Mayor Danahay told KPLC Sulphur residents need to turn off their water faucet drips because the city can t build the water pressure back up until they do. He also said city crews have gone through and shut off water pipes with leaks they have come across. Crews will continue to look for leaks and shut those lines down to allow the city s water storage tanks to fill back up.
Danahay went on to say it s critical the city can build its water pressure back up for the local hospital, clinics, and the fire department. He said West Cal Cam Hospital isn t able to perform some of their normal operations because of the lowered water pressure.
During the summer, we all wished for a cool front to come save us. When one finally got here, it hit with a fury Mother Nature hasn't unleashed in years.
This winter storm has battered the Southern states, as we are ill-prepared to deal with extreme freezing weather, and Louisiana is in the same pirogue.
Mayor Nic Hunter held a press conference with the City of Lake Charles at 11:00am this morning to update residents on the current status of water in the city.
