SHREVEPORT, La. - It s finally official. Amazon is constructing a multi-million dollar fulfillment center in Shreveport.  Gov. John Bel Edwards said Amazon is building a $200 million major robotics fulfilment center, bringing with it 1,000 direct jobs, an estimated 1,118 indirect jobs and about 800 construction jobs.  That s almost 3,000 jobs related to the project, which Edwards calls tremendous.   Gov. (KSLA) - An Amazon robotics fulfillment center will be built in Shreveport, Governor John Bel Edwards announced Friday, May 7 at a news conference. Construction on the $200 million facility will start in the fall of 2021 and is expected to be complete by September of 2022. The center will bring about 800 construction jobs and 1,000 full-time jobs with benefits to the city. Starting pay for these full-time jobs is $15 per hour.

But we are here talking about northwest Louisiana and Shreveport in particular. This is going to have an impact all across the economy of northwest Louisiana as more and more people have access to this construction and to the contracts.
