LUCIE A woman was arrested on attempted murder and other charges after a Friday incident in which she is accused of trying to strangle a woman, Port St. Lucie police said Monday. Maggie Jae Lewis, 43, was booked in at the St. Lucie County Jail just before 10 a.m. Saturday after being arrested by police on charges including attempted murder, home invasion robbery, grand theft and criminal mischief, records show.

LUCIE COUNTY A Port St. Lucie man was killed Saturday when his motorcycle was struck by a trailer that separated from a pickup truck on South Indian River Drive, the Florida Highway Patrol stated in a crash report. The crash happened about 4:15 p.m. Saturday in the 4200 block of South Indian River Drive when a trailer detached from a northbound pickup truck and collided with two Port St. Lucie men, both age 60, traveling south just north of Midway Road, the FHP reported. One of the two men struck, both of whom were transported to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center and Heart Institute in Fort Pierce, later died from his injuries, according to FHP.

The St. Lucie County and Martin County Sheriff’s Office both received calls Sunday night, with reports of a distressed vessel trying to make its way to shore just south of Waveland Beach in St. Lucie County. MCSO’s Air1 located the vessel and directed St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office deputies to the specific area. As first responders headed to the location, the vessel took on a large wave. As you can see in the Air1 Video, the vessel capsized throwing the six men and two pregnant females into the water.
