Nearly a dozen Martin County inmates received their first voluntary dose of the Moderna vaccine Thursday. If they are still incarcerated in June, they will receive their second dose. If they are released, they have been given instructions on how to make sure they get their second dose.

FORT PIERCE A 26-year-old man was arrested on two felony charges in connection with alleged lewd acts in 2016, according to recently-released records.
Victor Daniel Lopez, of the 400 block of Southeast Verada Avenue in Port St. Lucie, was arrested Tuesday after a Fort Pierce police investigation on charges of lewd or lascivious molestation of a person age 12 to 16, and lewd or lascivious exhibition.
A person identified by police as the victim reported the allegations to investigators in February.
As part of the case, the person called Lopez while in the presence of police, and Lopez reportedly said he grabbed her.

FORT PIERCE A 55-year-old man was arrested after accusations he stabbed another man three times in the arm, according to an affidavit released Thursday.
James Gutierrez, whose address was redacted from records, was arrested by Fort Pierce police at 12:34 a.m. Tuesday on a felony aggravated battery charge.
Police about an hour earlier went to an undisclosed address. Dispatchers said a man was stabbed with a sword. A suspect named “Jimmy” was said to be living in the area of Avenue D and North 7th Street.
Police spoke to a man who identified himself as “Jimmy.” Investigators reported finding two pocket knives on him. He told police he was grilling outside and argued with a man. He said the man tried to threaten him, and he was protecting himself.

FORT PIERCE A 36-year-old man accused in a sexual battery of a woman at his apartment remained Tuesday in the St. Lucie County Jail on $300,000 bond, according to recently-obtained records and the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office.
Robert Louis Scharfschwerdt, whose address was not disclosed, was arrested March 31 on felony charges including sexual assault-sexual battery, domestic battery by strangulation and false imprisonment in connection with incidents that happened the day prior.
A woman told Fort Pierce police she agreed to meet with Scharfschwerdt at his apartment. She said she got there about 2 a.m. and they argued. She told investigators he hit and choked her and committed violent sexual battery acts against her.
