Georgia Senate runoffs: Nail-biter in Peach State with both races too close to call Barnini Chakraborty © Provided by Washington Examiner ATLANTA In a pair of razor-thin Georgia Senate runoff races where the lead changed multiple times through Tuesday night, Democratic challenger Raphael Warnock was ahead of incumbent Sen. Kelly Loeffler as the clock struck midnight, while Jon Ossoff and Sen. David Perdue were effectively locked in a tie. With 97% of the votes counted, Warnock led Loeffler, 50.4% to 49.6%, while Ossoff and Perdue were locked in a virtual tie, with fewer than 2,000 votes between them. It s very close, Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger said Tuesday night, adding that there are still about 200,000 votes left to be counted.

Donald P Wiedmann, DuPont mechanical engineer

January 5, 2021 Donald P. Wiedmann, 93, of Lewes, formerly of Fenwick Island, Seaford and Buffalo, N.Y., died Saturday, Jan. 2, 2021, at The Moorings at Lewes of non-COVID-related causes.  He was born in Buffalo, and graduated from PS 66 in 1941, and Buffalo Technical High School in 1945.  Mr. Wiedmann served in the Army Specialized Training Reserve Program in 1945.  He graduated from Clarkson University (Potsdam, N.Y.) with a degree of bachelor of mechanical engineering in 1951.  Mr. Wiedmann worked for the DuPont Company in Seaford for over 33 years, retiring in 1985.  At the time of his death, he was living at The Moorings at Lewes where he had moved to in 2007.
