Chaz Mostert storms to Phillip Island pole
1 month ago
Chaz Mostert was able to build on the pace he showed in Friday practice at Phillip Island to secure his first TCR Australia pole ahead of the second round of the season.
With rain in the air, qualifying kicked off with the opening ten minute session being used to determine who would make it through to the top ten shootout.
Nathan Morcom would lead the way in his Hyundai i30 N TCR but it was a close run thing as Chaz Mostert – who had topped opening practice on Friday – ended up less than a tenth of a second behind in his Audi, with the similar RS 3 LMS of Luke King going third – albeit three tenths of a second off the fastest time.

Lee Holdsworth and Warren Luff have been confirmed as co-drivers at Walkinshaw Andretti United for the 2021 Supercars Championship season.
Holdsworth is going to drive alongside Chaz Mostert, with Luff joining Bryce Fullwood.
“I’m really pleased to be in the Walkinshaw Andretti United camp this year, they’ve been building up for some time now, and you can really see the progression,” said Holdsworth.
“I’m happy to be a part of that building process, and 2021 looks like it’s shaping up to be a great year for the team, especially seeing the way they finished 2020.”

Tickford Racing has revealed the livery that Jack Le Brocq will carry for the 2021 Supercars Championship season, featuring backing from Truck Assist.
Le Brocq ran in a Supercheap Auto-backed Ford Mustang last year but will move over to the #5 entry for the year ahead following the departure of Lee Holdsworth.
The 26-year-old took his maiden win in the series in Sydney last season.
“Last year was obviously pretty crazy for everyone, but we took a lot of positive steps during the year and picking up the win in Sydney was unreal,” he said.
