LISBON The Strout family plans to welcome the members and friends of the Lisbon Historical Society at an open house from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 22.
The event to occur at the Lisbon Village School Apartments, 273 Lisbon St., on the corner of Gartley Street and Route 196 is to mark the completion of the restoration of the 1893 school building which was originally the former Lisbon High School, and later the elementary school for Lisbon Village.
Bob and Aline Strout have completely renovated the school building, retaining as much of the historical features as possible while converting former classroom areas to apartment suites.

LISBON An abutter of a proposed eight-unit condominium development in Lisbon Village has raised concerns about the project.
According to planning documents, an apartment building on the 0.69-acre site at 9 Merrill Ave., would be demolished as part of the project proposed by Standish-based Gervais Homes, LLC. Located in a dense neighborhood off Village and Fillion streets, the lot is about 500 feet from Route 196, the main corridor connecting Lewiston to Topsham. The project still needs local approval.
