Liverpool working to alleviate food poverty and isolation 23 Jan 2021 Now Playing Related Articles Liverpool have committed to further supporting those most in need in the local community during the COVID-19 pandemic by expanding their Unity Is Strength programme. The club, their official charity LFC Foundation and their community team Red Neighbours will work together focusing on four key areas: food poverty, social isolation, physical activity and wellbeing, and volunteering. This support will include 1,000 weekly fresh meals being prepared by Anfield chefs, food parcels going to local families in need, the provision of accessible virtual LFC Foundation mental health support programmes, and the opportunity to take part in tailored school sessions and open-access sessions.

LFC foodbank appeals raise £122,000 The donations are made up of £52k from the club’s Unity Is Strength Facebook appeal, which included contributions from fans, partners, Official Liverpool Supporters’ Club Norway and the Steven Gerrard Foundation. A further £70k was donated by OLSC Norway, which hosted a second LFC foodbank appeal in November. The funding will be split across the eight Trussell Trust foodbanks in the Liverpool City Region - Wirral, Southport, South Liverpool, Runcorn, Widnes, St Helens, South Sefton and Knowsley - with each foodbank receiving £14k. Each foodbank will use the money to fund a variety of things, from food supplies to providing families with other support services such as financial and debt advice.

LFC and Cadbury team up for Secret Santa campaign Liverpool FC has teamed up with Cadbury to bring Christmas cheer to local residents in Liverpool as part of its Secret Santa campaign. Alongside Red Neighbours and LFC Foundation, Cadbury will be raising awareness for the Trussell Trust – and providing a little bit of extra magic for more than 150,000 people supported by its network of foodbanks – by adding a chocolate treat to food parcels this Christmas. Red Neighbours and LFC Foundation have partnered with Cadbury to help promote the initiative and provide an additional donation to the North Liverpool and South Liverpool Foodbanks.
