Dr Ayres presented this paper at the 2013 Australian Society of Archivists conference, in response to a request to speak about the impact of technology on archival programs at the National Library of Australia. This paper begins with a social media interaction between a member of the public and a 19th century piece of sheet music, digitised by the National Library and available via multiple digital channels, and traces the complex web of human, policy, investment and technology decisions and actions which made this interaction possible. The paper argues that archival organisations must embrace the cultural, policy and investment changes required to make their collections discoverable through multiple digital channels, moving on from a past in which archivists and librarians could expect users to come to either individual physical reading rooms or organisational websites to meet their research needs.

Simon Dale will be responsible for HANetf s sales strategy across Europe
Former head of sales at Woodford Investment Management Simon Dale has joined HANetf, amid a series of appointments across its sales, marketing and product teams.
Dale, who joins as head of sales, spent more than five year with Woodford IM until its collapse in October 2019.
Having also served as a director and board member of Woodford s ICAV fund, Dale has worked as sales and distribution consultant since the firm s closure, according to LinkedIn. His near-30-year career has included roles with Matthews Asia and Invesco.

The ETF provider has made a number of new appointments as it expands its active ETF offering
Woodford Investment Management’s former head of sales Simon Dale has re-emerged at HanETF which is looking to expand its active ETF offering.
Dale has been appointed head of sales at the independent ETP provider and will be responsible for implementing the company sales strategy across Europe, while also focusing on growing its active ETF offering. He will also join HanETF’s executive team.
