Detroit Lions signs Kentucky OL Drake Jackson as undrafted free agent

View Comments LEXINGTON - Kentucky center Drake Jackson did not have to wait long after going undrafted to find an NFL team. Jackson has agreed to terms on a free agent contract with the Detroit Lions, UK confirmed in a news release Sunday. Jackson had been projected as a likely late-round pick in the 2021 NFL draft but was not selected in the final rounds Saturday. Jackson played in 47 games for Kentucky across four seasons, starting the final 44 games of his career.  As a senior, Jackson was named first-team All-Southeastern Conference by Pro Football Focus and second-team All-SEC by the league coaches and Associated Press. Kentucky reported Jackson graded at 85.7% with 40 knockdowns and 188 blocks at the point of attack during the 11-games season.

Mr CFB: Some Burning Questions About the SEC East

Mr. CFB: Some Burning Questions About the SEC East Author: Apr 28, 2021 Projecting how the SEC is going to finish right after spring practice is a pretty foolish exercise. But you know what? It never stopped us before. Yes, a lot can go wrong between now and the start of training camp in August. Guys can get hurt. They can get in trouble. They can inexplicably dive into the transfer portal. In short, the snapshot of your favorite team could be completely different in three months. But you know what? This time last year we didn’t know if we were going to even HAVE a college football season. And we certainly didn’t know that the SEC would play a 10-game conference-only schedule. That decision was not announced until July 30.

Saturday Quickies: Kiyaunta Goodwin Edition Share this story Twitter | @K Goodwin2022 Good morning Big Blue Nation! Yesterday was big for the Kentucky Wildcats football team as they landed four star brothers Keaton and Destin Wade out of Tennessee. Destin Wade is a four star athlete that will likely play defensive back for the Cats while his twin brother, Keaton, is a four star outside linebacker. Steve Clinkscale and Liam Coen were their lead recruiters. Mark Stoops is expected to land another four star player today with Kiyaunta Goodwin. The 6-7, 300 pound offensive tackle is from my neck of the woods in Southern Indiana. The Cats are fighting off the likes of Clemson, Alabama, and Ohio State for his services. Vince Marrow is the lead recruiter for Goodwin.
