LIMA An estimated 350,000 cardiac arrests happen outside the hospital in any given year. Ohio students are learning to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) to improve survival rates. “Sudden cardiac arrest can happen any place, at any time,” said Sara Hegarty, executive director of the American Heart Association’s Northwest Ohio office. “The best chance of surviving is to get CPR right away. Sadly, most of the time it doesn’t happen that way.”
