• Lima hospitals established a Community Call Center at 419-226-9000. Residents are urged to call that number before visiting a health care provider or an emergency room. Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week.
• Call the Ohio Department of Health’s public COVID-19 hotline: 833-4-ASK-ODH. The hotline will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., seven days a week.
Masks
• The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend wearing face coverings in public settings while using social distancing measures. Simple cloth face coverings slow the spread of the virus. Surgical masks and N-95 respirators aren’t appropriate for everyday use and should be reserved for healthcare workers and first responders.

Private family services for Michael E. Scott will be held at Hanson-Neely-Allison Funeral & Cremation Services, Alger with Pastor Mark Andreasen officiating. Burial will be in Preston Cemetery with graveside military services conducted by the Ada VFW Post 9381 Honor Guard.
The funeral service will be live streamed on the Hanson-Neely-Allison Funeral & Cremation Services Facebook Page beginning at noon on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2021.

Bluffton sixth-grader dies in snowmobile accident

BLUFFTON A Bluffton sixth-grader died Sunday morning after being involved in a snowmobile accident on Alpine Drive, near its intersection with Lugabill Road.
At roughly 7:10 a.m. Sunday, the Allen County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a single-unit snowmobile accident outside the small town. Upon arrival, Ethan Leiber, 12, was transported by Bluffton EMS to Lima Memorial Health System, where he later died.
According to the sheriff’s office, he was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
Leiber enjoyed boating, tubing, jet-skiing, snowmobiling and golfing, according to his obituary. Private services and burial have been scheduled. There is a public visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services-Bluffton.

ADA A Lima man was pronounced dead early Monday morning at a private residence in Ada, the victim of an apparent stabbing incident.
According to a statement released Monday by Ada Police Chief Michael Harnishfeger, Rodney A. Slechter, 49, died at 345 W. Montford Ave., Ada, following an altercation with another male who was found by police at that location.
