Limerick s O Donovan goes under the knife

Limerick midfielder Darragh O’Donovan will undergo surgery today to correct a thumb injury on his right hand.
The Doon clubman sustained the injury during Limerick’s Munster SHC semi-final win over Tipperary at the start of November and played through it as the Shannonsiders went on to lift their second Liam MacCarthy Cup in three seasons.
While he didn’t feature in the Munster final, O’Donovan would play in the All-Ireland semi-final and final victories over Galway and Waterford respectively.
Today’s surgery means he could be set to miss the start of the Treaty men’s Allianz League campaign which is sue to commence at the end of next month.

Cemented his All-Star. 9 Sean Finn: Gave the ball away cheaply for Jack Fagan’s early goal chance but it was the only glitch. Adhesive all afternoon. Very creative in possession especially when Limerick turned over the ball in their defence. Dessie Hutchinson did win a lot of possession but was restricted to just one point from play. 8
