Half of adults haven’t completed a purchase with cash in more than a year Print 15th April 2021 More than 60% of UK adults have not made a single purchase using cash in the past 12 months, new research reveals. A survey of more than 2,300 adults by www.merchantadviceservice.co.uk found 61% of respondents admit they have used a new payment method over the past year, of those, 77% made a contactless payment using a piece of smart technology for the very first time. It was also found that 86% of adults currently favour contactless payments over any other option, paying via contactless with a debit or credit card is still the preferred method (60%), followed by paying with a smartphone (25%).
