1. He came to Sweden as a refugee
Tusse real name Tousin Chiza was born in Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo on 1 January 2002. However, he had to leave his family behind as he fled the country to escape war. He settled in the Swedish village of Kullsbjörken in 2015 as a 13-year-old. But he held onto his Congolese heritage. He suggests his upbringing contributed to his musical ability, as music and dance are an integral part of Congolese culture. He remained in contact with his biological family, and his dad supported him during Melodifestivalen.

Tusse triumphs at Melodifestivalen with Voices

Tusse has won Melodifestivalen and will represent Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest with Voices in the first Semi-Final on Tuesday 18 May.
The grand finale of
Melodifestivalen marked the last of the televised Eurovision selection shows; drawing a big sparkly curtain across the Contest’s “national final season”.
In a hotly contested year, Tusse came out on top with the track
Voices and will now represent Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest in Rotterdam.
The winning song was written by Joy Deb, Linnea Deb, Jimmy ”Joker” Thörnfeldt and Anderz Wrethov.
Tusse will represent Sweden at Eurovision 2021 after winning Melodifestivalen
Tusse has won Melodifestivalen with Voices , booking his place at Eurovision 2021.
The 19-year-old winner of Swedish Idol in 2019 was making his Melodifestivalen debut.
The result was determined by a mixture of jury and public votes, unlike the earlier rounds which were determined by public vote only. The jury consisted of eight international panels representing Albania, Cyprus, France, Great Britain, Iceland, Israel, The Netherlands and Switzerland.
After the jury votes were announced, Tusse was in the lead by 10 points over Eric Saade and Dotter. He also won the televote over The Mamas and Clara Klingenström. Ultimately he won on 175 points over Eric Saade on 118 and The Mamas on 106.

Nina, who landed our radar in a big way during Eurovision 2016, isn’t just riding a wave built on reputation. Oh no. She’s also benefitting from the positive response to the one-minute snippet of her song. Presenting traditional sounds in a contemporary way, she’s ready to showcase her talent along with her country’s rich soundscape. We’re confident the hype will keep rolling once the remaining two minutes drop. Nina sees the lighthouse and is ready to set sail for Rotterdam!
