Steiner / The Sun The components of one of the decorative features of the road diet under construction in downtown Jamestown are ready to be placed, according to Serle Swedlund, executive director of Jamestown Tourism. Engraved paver stones have arrived and will be installed in the pedestrian bumpouts at each crosswalk along First Avenue in Jamestown.

Tourism Approves Grants for Digital Tour, Fort Seward

Lambrecht says the virtual tour can be updated with other features down the line. Tourism Executive Director Searle Swedlund stated that some of the work could be done by Jamestown Tourism, allowing them more control of the project. The board unanimously approved the requested $17,200 to help fund the project. Future plans will engage businesses and ask them to invest to be part of the virtual tour. A request was later heard from Sonja Thierer with Fort Seward in Jamestown. The request was made for funding of the Big Guns of the Old West event held July 25th & 26th as part of Buffalo Days.

Jamestown Holiday Dazzle Light Winners Announced

JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The winners of the Jamestown Downtown Association’s Holiday Dazzle Light Tour have been announced. Due to COVID-19, the JDA was unable to host their annual Holiday Dazzle Parade. The competition and tour was announced in place of the parade with hopes to return in 2021. JDA President Lynn Lambrecht reports that they had over 300 votes and 82 total entries in the friendly community competition. Winners were: The Puffes will receive $250 cash prize from the Jamestown Downtown Association 2nd – Travis Yunck, 1013 16 1/2 St NE Travis will receive $100 prize plus a $25 Cashwise gift card 3rd – Larry & Jenny Korynta, 824 6th Ave SE
