Lynn Mart colouring entries dazzle the judges

Children who got their crayons and pens out and entered the Lynn Mart schools colouring competition set the judges a tough task.
Colleen Roper, of Future4fairgrounds, who came up with the idea, said: The standard of entries was very high and it was a very difficult choice. Our winners, Elsa, from Hunstanton Primary School, and Sophie, from Gayton Primary School, both used colours so beautifully.

Her team of fellow fairground operators had organised the competition for primary schools when they heard there would be no Mart at Lynn this year because of lockdown. They wanted to give youngsters a chance to enjoy some of the colour of the fair from their homes.

People from west Norfolk who have supported the community this year and for decades prior have been recognised with special awards.
West Norfolk mayor Geoff Hipperson acknowledged Kerry Robinson and Michael Kennedy with community awards for their efforts both during the pandemic and over the years.

Kerry Robinson, from King s Lynn, was given a special community volunteer certificate for her dedication to the Angels of Lynn Facebook page, which has provided a network of support for the local community during the pandemic.
Town lights up in tribute to the King s Lynn Mart

Lynn s Tuesday Market Place lit up in tribute to the King s Lynn Mart after the showmen were forced to cancel this year s event due to the pandemic.
With a long-standing history in the town, the February arrival of the traditional funfair should have seen hundreds gather in the town centre.
Dating back over 800 years, this is the first time the event has been cancelled since the Second World War, so a Lynn business decided to pay tribute through a virtual display.

Jak Ropa Professional, a Lynn events, production and entertainment company, put on a special display of lights, sound and effects at the Duke s Head Hotel in Lynn s Tuesday Market Place.

From the buzz of excitement when he visited the fairground as a child to the times when, as borough mayor, he performed the official opening ceremony, DR PAUL RICHARDS has a lifetime of memories of Lynn Mart.
He was in the civic party on opening day for many years and saw how much the Martâs visit to Lynn meant to the town and also to the showmen as it marked the start of their summer touring season.
Although the Mart is missing from the Tuesday Market Place this year, Dr Richards has been looking back over his times at the fair and has compiled these Mart Milestones.
