Association presents 2021 alumni awards

The SUNY Cortland Alumni Association will present its most prestigious honor, the Distinguished Alumni Award, to three graduates during a virtual award ceremony on Monday and Tuesday, July 12 and 13.
The association also will honor one graduate with the Distinguished Educator Award, recognize three Young Alumni and name two Outstanding Alumni Volunteers.

The 2021 award recipients are:
Ashley Crossway ’13, Distinguished Young Alum. Crossway, who recently joined SUNY Cortland as an assistant professor, is an advocate for the advancement of diversity and the LGBTQ+ population in the athletic training community.

The following cases were resolved by Havre City Judge Janie Hedstrom in January. Jordan Leigh Powers, born in 1994, had dismissed by the prosecution a charge of driving while privilege to do so is suspended or revoked. Natasha Rose Lohman, born in 1991, had dismissed by the prosecution a charge of endangering the welfare of a child, first violation. Jordan Charles Demontiney, born in 1987, had dismissed by the prosecution charges of obstructing a peace officer or other public servant, reckless driving, first offense, failure to give notice of accident by quickest. The following people were arrested and booked into the Burnet County Jail during the period of Jan. 27-Feb. 4, 2021, according to Burnet County sheriff’s logs. City of residence and release information are listed when available. This list does not constitute an official court document, and all persons are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Stacey Melvin Davis, 31, of Marble Falls was arrested Jan. 27: violation of bond/protective order. Released Jan. 29 on $8,000 bond.
Shannon Derek Dowis, 43, of Burnet was arrested Jan. 27: violation of bond/protective order.
Isaac Daniel Gonzales, 20, of Horseshoe Bay was arrested Jan. 27: motion to revoke-possession of controlled substance.
