Police identify woman hit and killed by vehicle on I-475 in Burton

BURTON, MI A 21-year-old Maryland woman who had been living in Burton for six months has been identified as the victim in a Tuesday crash on southbound Interstate 475, police said.
Officers with the Burton Police Department were called out just after 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 6, for a report of a woman getting hit by a car after jumping from a median onto southbound I-475 between Hemphill Road and Hill Road.
Witnesses stated that the female was crouched in the grass median and ran out into traffic, according to a Burton Police Department news release. One car swerved and missed the woman. A second vehicle was unable to avoid hitting her.
