Machete-wielding Lansing man arrested after car/deer crash

BENZONIA — A machete-wielding man who claimed he was fighting zombies was arrested recently by the Michigan State Police after he was involved in a car/deer crash.  Jordan Lee Cook, 22, of Lansing was charged in Benzie County s 85th District Court with one count each of carrying a firearm or dangerous weapon with unlawful intent, assault with a dangerous weapon and operating while intoxicated for his connection with an incident on Jan. 5 in Benzie County s Colfax Township. The charges in question are only accusations. Cook is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law. The prosecution has the burden of proving guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

PD: Machete-wielding man thought he was fighting off zombies     Colfax Township, MI (WNEM) A 22-year-old Lansing man was arrested after a bizarre incident in Benzie County involving a deer, a machete, and the suspected use of intoxicants. A Michigan State Police trooper received a call about 2:30 a.m. on Jan. 5 for a crash involving a deer on Lindy Road near Copemish Road in Colfax Township. When the trooper arrived on scene, he spoke to a passerby who reported the crash. The caller was about 150 yards behind the vehicle that struck the deer. The caller told police he parked far away because the driver of the damaged vehicle was walking around acting funny and carrying something in his right hand.

The trooper, from MSP’s Cadillac Post, responded about 2:30 a.m. on Jan. 5 to a car versus deer crash on Lindy Road near Copemish Road in Colfax Township. The caller who reported the crash told the trooper he had parked far away from the crash because the driver of the damaged vehicle was walking around outside “acting funny” and carrying something.
