Tree planted near Linn courthouse lawn to honor Lindsey

MID-VALLEY MEDIA A redwood tree was planted in the lawn of the Linn County Courthouse on Tuesday morning in honor of former commissioner John Lindsey, who died March 9 after a year-long battle with cancer. Tuesday would have been his 55th birthday. Lindsey’s widow Linda Lindsey and the current Linn County commissioners gathered shovels and scooped dirt on the tree during the event. “John had lots to say and he said it,” said Roger Nyquist, chairman of the Linn County Board of Commissioners, according to a Linn County news release. Nyquist said Lindsey was adamant about individual liberty and freedom, providing value for taxpayers and never “kowtowing” to the political whims of the moment, the news release states.

On stage: Out of Order in Melbourne and Nunsense A-Men in Titusville

“Nunsense A-Men” is your traditional “Nunsense” the musical, but featuring a cast of five men,” explained Niko Stamos, Titusville Playhouse’s production manager and education director. This production even ratchets up the silly factor by casting five of the male staff members at the playhouse. The guys taking the nonsense seriously are Stamos himself, executive director Steven Heron, Jonathan Willis, Jordyn Linkous and Luke Atkison, all of whom dutifully don the habit and discard their dignity. Resident music director Spencer Crosswell, usually seen in live bands or heard in voiceovers, makes his Playhouse stage debut as Father Spencer. “This is the first time all of us have actually been onstage together,” said Stamos.
