Proposed Providence Teachers agreement contains few surprises PROVIDENCE  The tentative agreement with the Providence teachers contains several give-backs by the union but no drastic changes in working conditions.  The proposed contract, which teachers will vote on Friday night, includes a raise of 1.5 percent retroactive to 2020-2021, a 2 percent raise for 2021-2022, a 2 percent raise on the first day of 2022-2023 and a .5 percent increase on Aug. 31, 2023. It also includes a $3,000 bonus for all teachers upon ratification. The Journal obtained a copy Wednesday night. Missing from the agreement are longer school days or a longer school year, which some observers thought essential to bring about dramatic change in the schools.
