Linden Place will host Internationally acclaimed storyteller Len Cabral on Wednesday, June 2nd at 6:00 p.m. for a free evening of storytelling in the historic gardens.
Cabral will bring to life original stories and folk tales from Africa, Cape Verde, and the Caribbean, as well as other places around the world.
Cabral, the great-grandson of a Cape Verdean whaler whose grandparents immigrated to America from the islands off the coast of West Africa, has been enchanting audiences with his storytelling performances at schools, libraries, museums, and festivals since 1976. “We’re all connected through the sharing of stories,” Cabral said. “They have a remarkable way of creating bridges between people and cultures across time and space.”GET THE LATEST BREAKING NEWS HERE SIGN UP FOR GOLOCAL FREE DAILY EBLAST

Spring is a time for new beginnings and that couldn’t be truer for Bristol’s Linden Place Mansion. At the onset of the pandemic, the museum closed its doors but, during that time, the team of historians and curators were hard at work. “Linden Place has spent the last twelve months of the COVID-19 pandemic working on a complete reinterpretation of Linden Place’s tour and story,” says Susan Battle, executive director at Linden Place. “In doing that, we have redesigned rooms in the 1810 mansion, giving them a whole new look and feel that we are excited to unveil and share as part of our opening weekend, ‘Art Blooming at Linden Place’ show. This extra-special reopening will feature flower arrangements and original art inspired by the mansion’s beauty and history all created by local artists. Simone Joyaux, ACFRE, Adv Dip, FAFP, a renowned fundraiser, author, mentor, teacher, and activist and recognized internationally as one of the leading voices for fundraising and philanthropy passed away on Sunday, May 2, according to the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
Simone began her career in 1975. She served as executive director of a small nonprofit in Lansing, Mich., and then served as chief development officer for Trinity Repertory Company for many years. She was a consultant to a range of RI non-profits over three decades.
She worked with Rhode Island for Community Justice, Rhode Island Urban Debate League, Blithewold, Coggeshall Farm Museum, Everett Dance Theatre, College Unbound, Festival Ballet, Gamm Theatre, International Tennis Hall of Fame, Linden Place, Music School, Newport Art Museum, Steel Yard, Rhode Island Coalition for the Homeless, to name just a few.
