New Buffalo Business Association eyes a brighter New Year

NEW BUFFALO — The New Buffalo Business Association looked back on a difficult 2020 while expressing hope for a more normal new year during its Annual Meeting held virtually via Zoom on Dec. 20. President Audrey Tuszynski led the “strange, but pretty usual for this year, recap” of the NBBA’s 2020. She said COVID has “completely changed our train of thought on what we are as a business association.” Tuszynski said the first event cancelation occurred in April when the Easter egg hunt the NBBA sponsors with American Legion Post 169 was called off. From there the focus shifted from planning summer events to helping businesses deal with the pandemic.

From staff reports WEIRTON The board of directors for CHANGE Inc., is looking for a new chief executive officer, after current CEO Judy Raveaux announced plans to retire from the non-profit community action agency in July. Lisa Werner, board president, stated that under Raveaux’s leadership, CHANGE Inc. has been able to identify ever-changing community needs and adopt diverse programming to meet those challenges. Raveaux has been with CHANGE since early 1983, and has served as its CEO since 1990. More information on the CEO position and CHANGE can be found on its website at www.changeinc.org. Girl With Down Syndrome Unable to Walk Until the Age of 2 Is Now a Special Olympian, Model Special Olympian Chelsea Werner has been able to break yet more barriers for people with disabilities and inspire them with a second career in front of the cameras: modeling. The two-time defending World Champion gymnast was born with Down syndrome. Doctors told her parents that she would have a low muscle tone among other things, and she didn’t learn to walk until almost the age of 2, but she defied the stereotypes of her genetic disorder by showing a flair for sports at an early age.
