The joint research initiative will explore how both organisations can best respond and adapt to environmental and cultural change, support wildlife renewal and improve wellbeing through nature. Experts will develop science-based, action-orientated research to inform land use decision making and better understand ways to care for our natural and cultural landscapes. The focus will be to plan and manage the inevitable transformation of landscapes so they work best for people, place, nature and future generations.

SEVIERVILLE — A local non-profit with a mission to support those with autism sent out copies of a book about autism to every school and library in the county this week in celebration of Autism Awareness Month. “Can I Tell You About Autism” by Jude Welton is a guide for teachers, caregivers and professionals to use in explaining autism from a kids point of view. It was gifted by the Smoky Mountain Autism Success Hub (SMASH) to be used as a resource for people to understand how to better interact with children with autism. “Here’s what you do as an autistic parent, you spend half of your life teaching your child how to live in the world and then I spend the other half of my life teaching the world how to understand my child,” said SMASH director, Lisa Roberts. “I got in the habit of taking this book at the first of every year to my son’s teachers, then it got to where it helped them so much that other teachers in the school asked if they could

2 Min Read Published on: 8 hours ago A team of faculty and a Ph.D. student at Loma Linda University School of Nursing discovered how nurses working in Haiti manage to sustain resilience and display exemplary dedication toward patient care amid difficult working conditions.  Haitian nurses see nursing as more than a job, as a “divine calling” that yields a deeply ingrained sense of purpose, according to a study published by the Journal of Christian Nursing titled, “Dedication in a Difficult Context: Faith-Based Nursing in Haiti,” in early April 2021. “They see themselves as missionaries to their fellow citizens and community,” said lead author Lisa Roberts, a professor and research director for LLU School of Nursing. “My feeling is that it is the basis of their resilience.”
