But back in the 1950s and 1960s, at No 89, there was a previous dairy. The dairy closed and other businesses took its place. Facebook page, recalls her childhood in this part of Ruahine St. “I remember the dairy and the cake shop. My mother had eight babies and being the oldest I can remember many visits to the hospital between 1956 and 1964. We used to go into the dairy to get her a magazine, some flowers and anything else she needed. I also remember the cake shop on the corner.
Okanagan woman honoured by RCMP for taking care of victim’s young children after fatal crash
Lisa Sands went above and beyond to care for three children on the worst day of their young lives.
Her actions to help these children at the scene of a fatal crash in the North Okanagan earlier this month has earned her recognition from the RCMP.
The tragic incident happened on Wednesday, Jan. 6, as the Palmateer-Lien family was driving to Kelowna for a doctor’s appointment.
Their vehicle was involved in a serious multi-vehicle crash and Rands just happened to be at the scene.
