Council bosses dip into reserves to help business and repair roads
New support for Lincolnshire businesses

Lincolnshire County Council will be the first authority in the UK to dip into a £52.6 million financial volatility reserve in order to support local businesses.
The authority’s executive on Tuesday agreed to put aside £12 million from the reserve for local businesses facing difficulties in the COVID-19 pandemic, alongside another £200,000 for an emergency flood response scheme.
A further £10 million will also be taken from the council’s capital programme to help repair rural roads.

A man who terrified his neighbours with his behaviour has been jailed for 18 months, but he is likely to be released immediately because he already spent enough time in custody.
Mark Elsworth targeted the mother and daughter who lived in the same block of flats as himself in William Way, Skegness, Lincoln Crown Court was told on Tuesday.

A shoplifter who attacked staff after being confronted in a city centre store has been jailed for 12 months at Lincoln Crown Court.
William Glover took a bottle of gin in mid November 2020 from the Iceland store on Lincoln High Street and left the shop only to return ten minutes later.
Tom Heath, prosecuting, said that Glover’s behaviour attracted suspicion and he was watched by staff.
“He picked up a basket and put items into it. He entered an area that was for staff only. He was asked to leave the shop.”

Lincoln City star man Jorge Grant has devoted his future to the club, signing a two year contract extension.
The 26-year-old midfielder signed for the Imps on a free transfer in July 2019, captaining the side on a number of occasions during his 71 appearances for the club.
Jorge has been somewhat of a revelation for Lincoln this season, instrumental in the team’s unlikely promotion push.
His bumper new deal will run until June 2023, securing Grant’s future at the LNER Stadium for anther two seasons at least.

Lincolnshire Police have refreshed their list of most wanted criminals in the county, with five new people on their radar.
Since their initial list of Lincolnshire’s ten most wanted people in December, five culprits now been found.
The other five from the list, Mark Gibbins, Stephen Pickering, Abdul Bakhtar, Marius Dumitru and Kyle O’Conner, are still on the run from officers.
They have been joined by five new cases, for charges including knife possession, domestic assault and a sexual offence.
