Next Friday, February 12th, begins the Year of the Ox, an animal whose attributes are hardworking and honest. The Lunar New Year is a 16-day celebration, often marked by lantern festivals, parades, and fireworks. But since we aren’t able to enjoy a lot of these gatherings this year, we’ve rounded up some of the best safe celebratory events in New York City, including virtual dumpling-making classes, papercutting workshops, a small business crawl in Chinatown, and traditional Chinese dance and music performances.

Kingdom’s first real estate trust products roll out

Central Trust Co Ltd, a joint venture between Cambodian and Chinese investors with a trustee licence in hand, has launched the first real estate trust products in the Kingdom.
Speaking at the inauguration last week in Phnom Penh, CEO Ling Dong announced five series of products – Funan, Zhenla, Angkor, Khmer and Bayon – which he said represent “five different functions of the company”.
He said: “Investment in the real estate market in Cambodia with its persistent display of potential has compelled companies to pick up real estate as their core, fundamental assets.”

Flushing Town Hall will celebrate the Year of the Ox with Flushing Town Hall s Chinese Temple Bazaar, held virtually for the first time and streaming via YouTube on Sunday, February 14 at 2:00 PM (ET).
The Chinese Temple Bazaar, title sponsor Tai Wang and Glow Foundation, will feature a feast of Lunar New Year celebrations, including traditional folk dance by the Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company; Hao Bang Ah, New Year! , a new Chinese hand puppet performance by Chinese Theatre Works; a paper-cutting demonstration by Hongyi He and Ling Tang; a Chinese comic crosstalk episode; A Guide of New York Love , by Shuimu Xiangsheng; and, a fish-drawing demonstration by Arthur Liu of the Queens Arts Education Center.

Everything will depend on the efficacy of Covid vaccines rollout. The travel industry will change, perhaps for good. Valid vaccination records will be as important as passports or visas. Egypt would be my first destination of choice as the country is a crucible of history, both pre- and post-Islamic. It is the largest country in the Middle East with a rich culture and popular cuisine. Plus the Red Sea is an amazing diving destination. As soon as it is safe to travel, we would be on the first flight available.
