The National Civic League will grant All-America distinction to 10 cities in June, after each of the finalists has an opportunity to give a virtual community presentation at the 72nd annual All-America City Awards event.
According to the National Civic League, All-America City designation recognizes effective, innovative, and inclusive civic engagement to address community issues and create stronger connections among residents, businesses, nonprofits, and government leaders.
The theme for the 2021 competition was âBuilding Equitable and Resilient Communities.â
Livermoreâs application was a collaborative effort involving the city, Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District, Livermore Area Recreation and Park District, and Las Positas College.

Montgomery College President Dr. DeRionne Pollard is under consideration as a candidate for Nevada State College’s top leadership position.
Bart Patterson, the current president of Nevada State, announced that he’s stepping down from his role effective June 30, 2021. Pollard, who has served in Montgomery College’s top position since 2010, is one of four finalists in the running to succeed Patterson.
The other candidates under consideration include:
Hubert Benitez, who serves as vice president for strategy and innovation at Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Mo;
Susan Borrego, a professor and former chancellor and executive officer at the University of Michigan-Flint; and

SILVER SPRING, MD Montgomery College President DeRionne Pollard has been named one of four finalists for Nevada State College s top position.
Pollard who assumed leadership of Montgomery College in 2010 will participate in a public forum hosted by Nevada State on April 27. If selected, Pollard will replace the institution s current president, Bart Patterson, who is stepping down on June 30. As many institutional leaders do, Dr. Pollard is considering a professional opportunity created by the retirement of the president of Nevada State College, located in Henderson, Nevada, Montgomery College said in an emailed statement to Patch. Dr. Pollard responded to this unique opportunity because it aligns with her deep commitment to student access and success in higher education.
