Teens suspected of breaking into Las Cruces High School and stealing UV

Credit Las Cruces Police Department LAS CRUCES - Police arrested a pair of teenagers suspected of breaking into an enclosed area at Las Cruces High School on Sunday, stealing a utility vehicle and then leading officers on a brief pursuit before they were detained. The two teenage boys are a 15-year-old who was seen driving the utility vehicle and his 16-year-old passenger. Because of their ages, the Las Cruces police will not release their names.   Both teens are charged with a felony count of non-residential burglary and a misdemeanor count of resisting, evading or obstructing an officer. The 15-year-old boy also faces felony charges of battery upon a peace officer and tampering with evidence.

Woman who died in rollover crash near Las Cruces High is identified; police seek witnesses UPDATE, Feb. 9: Police on Tuesday identified a woman killed in a rollover crash near Las Cruces High School about a week ago. Police said 31-year-old Nicole Monique Escalera died when she was ejected from her car after crashing; she was not wearing a seatbelt. Investigators also said in a statement released Tuesday that they had not been able to determine what caused Escalera to lose control of her car, strike a curb and flip over. The statement indicated police were seeking potential witnesses to the deadly crash.
