Arrest made in Long Beach murder investigation | Orange County Breeze

Update 5/6/2021 On May 6, 2021 at approximately 8:30 a.m., Special Investigation Detectives located and arrested Charles Ray Jones, a 44-year-old individual experiencing homelessness in Long Beach. He was arrested on the 100 block of the Promenade. Jones was booked on one count of murder and is currently being held on $2,000,000 bail in the Long Beach City Jail. Through their investigation, detectives discovered evidence linking Jones to the fatal Oct. 6, 2020 stabbing of a male adult victim. The victim has been identified as 41-year-old Nilton Cardoso, an individual experiencing homelessness in Long Beach. Cardoso and Jones were known to each other and may have been involved in a dispute when the assault occurred. The investigation remains active as detectives determine whether more persons were involved in the attack.

Lake Hughes Man Killed After Being Ejected From Vehicle In Fatal Palmdale Crash A man from Lake Hughes was killed on Thursday after reportedly making an “unsafe turning movement,” and being ejected from his vehicle in a fatal Palmdale crash. At around 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, the body of 28-year-old Anthony Desantis of Lake Hughes was reportedly found on the northbound side of 35101 Cheseboro Road north of Barrel Springs Road in Palmdale, according to an official with Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner. Officials believe that Desantis had been driving a 2006 Mazda 3 at the time. “For undetermined reasons, (Desantis) made an unsafe turning movement, allowing the vehicle to veer to the left across the southbound lane and onto the west dirt shoulder,” wrote Officers Monique Mischeaux, spokesperson for the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Antelope Valley Office, in an email to KHTS Friday. “The vehicle went airborne and overturned.” 

Man implicates self in 3 stabbing deaths, sheriff says

Print A man suspected in the stabbing deaths of three people near a homeless camp south of Compton has implicated himself in the killings, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said Tuesday. Detectives had long suspected Tracy Walker of being involved in the series of fatal attacks that began in June 2020 in Rancho Dominguez, authorities said. They picked him up Thursday after finding him near a homeless encampment next to Compton Creek, where all three bodies were found. Walker was arrested on suspicion of felony murder after officials said he implicated himself in the slayings during an interview with homicide detectives. The 56-year-old is being held in lieu of bail of $2 million.
