The bi-annual event provides an opportunity for residents to safely dispose of unused and outdated prescription medicine. Due to COVID-19, additional precautions were put in place at Saturday’s event to ensure the safety of all individuals who participated.

Los Alamos Police Hold DEA Drug Take Back Day Saturday
LAPD News:
Saturday, April 24, the Los Alamos Police Department will be conducting its biannual DEA Drug Take Back Day. This will be held in the South parking lot (Trinity Drive Justice Center Lot) of the Los Alamos Police Department.
This event will begin at 10 a.m., and run until 2 p.m. Due to COVID-19, additional precautions have been put in place to ensure the safety of all individuals who partake. The Los Alamos Police Department asks the public to follow the guidelines to ensure a safe process for everyone.
The DEA Drug Takeback event will have one entry way into the parking lot. There will be cones to guide those that come into the parking lot as well as officers to assist drivers to drive by a drop off box. LAPD wants to encourage people to remain in their vehicles, as people will not be allowed to park and walk up to the box.

A suspicious packet received by a business office at Trinity Professional Plaza, 3500 Trinity Drive Tuesday afternoon resulted in the Los Alamos Police Department Bomb Squad and Los Alamos Fire Department HazMat Team being deployed to the scene.

LAPD Releases Part 1 Crime Statistics 2020
LAPD News:
Today, Chief of Police Dino Sgambellone released crime statistics for 2020 which were compiled by the Records Section of the Los Alamos Police Department.
Offenses reported as crime statistics are determined by the FBI Uniform Crime Report Program and are classified as crimes against persons (violent crime) and crimes against property.
The offenses of murder (homicide), rape, robbery and aggravated assault make up the violent crime category. The offenses of arson, burglary, larceny, and auto theft make up the property crime category. Both of these categories combined are referred to as Part I Offenses.
