Police, emergency crews to answer questions at coffee shop

The Lowood Police are teaming up with the Old Fernvale Bakery for another round of Coffee with a Cop. From 10am until 2pm on Friday, April 23, officers from the Lowood Station will be on hand to answer any questions or have a general chat with members of the community. Lowood’s officer in charge senior sergeant James Bromley said staff from transport department, as well as Queensland fire staff, paramedics and RACQ would also be available.

Two charged over alleged violent robbery of elderly man

Premium Content Subscriber only TWO young men have been charged over the alleged violent robbery of an 80-year-old man at his home near Lowood last Friday. Police alleged a Glamorgan Vale man, 24, and a Deebing Heights man, 21, attended the O’Reillys Weir Rd property about 3.30am on March 12. They allegedly entered a shed located at the rear of the property in an attempt to steal fuel. It is then the victim, who was disturbed by the commotion, attempted to stop the suspects from fleeing by taking the keys to their vehicle. One of the suspects allegedly threatened to stab the elderly man during a struggle.

Lockyer concreter busted drink driving with Boxing Day beers

Premium Content Subscriber only A Lockyer Valley driver who blew .01 above the legal limit has been disqualified from driving for one month but awarded a work licence. Craig Douglass Joseph Edwards was driving home on Boxing Day after lunch with his wife’s family when he was pulled up by a police patrol vehicle in Kensington Grove. Edward was driving on Thallon Road at 2.4pm when intercepted then taken to the Lowood Police station where be blew a reading of 0.051. Police prosecutor sergeant Al Windsor tendered Edward’s traffic history, which was “very dated” back to 1986. Edwards was represented by solicitor Paul Emmerson, of Emmerson Legal, who said his 53-year-old client was a concreter and self-employed.

Police crack down on illegal trail bike riding

Lowood police say they will “crackdown” on illegal trail bikes using a national park who are posing a threat to the safety of other park users. Lowood police Officer-in-Charge senior sergeant James Bromley said Lowood police and the Department of Environment and Science had received increased traffic complaints in relation to trail bikes riding illegally in the D’Aguilar National Park. Senior sergeant Bromley said the trail bikes were travelling, unregistered, along England Creek Rd, England Creek and therefore travelling illegally. Senior sergeant Bromley said “all vehicle that use Queensland roads, including trail bikes, need to be registered”. Lowood Police, in conjunction with the rangers from Dept of Environment and Science, would be targeting trail bikes committing offences in the D’Aguilar National Park, senior sergeant Bromley said.
