The Rajaji Tiger Reserve is set to welcome the first big cat from Jim Corbett Tiger Reserve on Thursday, in the first such relocation in Uttarakhand aimed at tiger population management. A total of five big cats from the Jim Corbett Tiger Reserve nearly eight years since conceptualisation of the project and four years after clearance from the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) are scheduled to be translocated from Jim Corbett to Rajaji.

The Opposition Congress Tuesday raised objections to Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat tweeting pictures of himself virtually attending the winter session of the state Assembly. Rawat is in home isolation as he contracted Covid-19.
Congress member Qazi Mohd Nizamuddin drew the attention of the House on the issue by moving a notice about point of order. The CM’s photographs of virtually attending the Assembly session were posted on his Twitter handle on both Monday and Tuesday.

The Uttarakhand High Court on Tuesday placed Dehradun district judge Prashant Joshi under suspension following charges that he used a private car, against whose owner an FIR is registered, for travelling from Dehradun to Mussoorie to attend a camp court.
