After an hour of strolling the chilly Point Pleasant Beach boardwalk in search of photo-ops and votes last Friday, Jack Ciattarelli, the Republican candidate for governor, perked up at the possibility of an unplanned confrontation with Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy. Word reached Ciattareill s entourage that Murphy was spotted several blocks away at Jenkinson s Boardwalk. The prospect of a political version of a nose-to-nose Jersey Shore -style showdown on the boards left Ciattarelli s team giddy. But they got there too late.
