At Dandelion Day on Saturday (May 8), Carbondale will be unveiling a new farm guide and map, illustrated by local artist Sarah Uhl, to connect visitors and residents to the local food and farming scene.
As things warm up across the Valley, Carbondale is looking to attract tourists and locals alike with two days of events and a new printed pocket guide to the area’s local food locations.

Sarah-Jane Johnson with Carbondale Tourism helped create the map, and she says the idea behind it is to connect visitors and locals with the town’s deeply rooted agricultural history and ranching culture.
First Friday in Carbondale on May 7 will also serve as the first public gathering in Garfield County since the state relaxed COVID-19 restrictions, but the event’s planners are keeping cognizant of the virus regardless.
“It will be quieter because we’re really encouraging people to enjoy, but to keep walking, if you will,” said Andrea Stewart, executive director of the Carbondale Chamber of Commerce.
“We’re really trying to avoid gathering of large groups.”

Dance, song and prayer
On April 3 in downtown Aspen, we were blessed by an amazing showcase of Native dance and drum exhibition. The presence of the first inhabitants of these lands, their beautiful traditional songs, dances and prayers were a healing balm on our spirits after a year long of dealing with COVID-19 impacts.
Aspen Indigenous Foundation would like to express its heartfelt gratitude to city of Aspen for allowing us to bring this event to the community, and to our generous sponsors: Aspen Skiing Co., Annabelle Inn, Mountain Chalet, Molly Gibson, the St. Regis, New York Pizza and to all the donors who contributed to support cultural Native programs such as this past exhibition.
