Madison County board members voted to appoint the nominees presented by Madison County Board Chairman Kurt Prenzler to the three vacant county board positions.
During a special meeting on Jan. 29, Board members voted in favor of appointing Valerie Doucleff to complete Ray Wesley’s term in District 6, Mike Babcock to complete Tom McRae’s term in District 14 and Terry Eaker to complete Chrissy Dutton-Wiley’s term in District 15.
Board members previously rejected Doucleff’s appointment along with the recommendations of Larry Meisenheimer and Dana Brockman to the vacant seats at a meeting on Jan. 20. Prenzler asked the board to reconsider Doucleff’s recommendation at the Jan. 29 meeting and said Babcock and Eaker were nominated at the recommendation of board members who previously held those seats.

EDWARDSVILLE The Madison County Board will meet at 4 p.m. Friday to consider replacing three members.
According to an agenda posted on the county website, the meeting will be held for “reconsideration of Appointments to County Board Districts 6, 14 and 15 OR appointment of County Board Members for Districts 6, 14 and 15.”
The prospective members were not named in the original agenda, but Board Chairman Kurt Prenzler identified them early Wednesday afternoon, and the agenda was later amended to include the names. They include one previous nominee, and two new names.
The action comes after the board rejected three recommendations by Prenzler at last week’s regular board meeting.

All three nominees presented by Madison County Board Chairman Kurt Prenzler for the appointment of three vacant positions were rejected by board members last week.
Prenzler nominated Val Doucleff to complete Ray Wesley’s term in District 6, Larry Meisenheimer to complete Tom McRae’s term in District 14 and Dana Brockman to complete Chrissy Dutton-Wiley’s term in District 15.
Board member Chris Guy said his votes rejecting the nominees were not against anybody in particular, but he was concerned that he did not hear from any of the nominees. He said that before he became a board member, he called every county board member to introduce himself.

EDWARDSVILLE Madison County Board Chairman Kurt Prenzler is waiting for a letter from the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office confirming the official timeline for appointing at least two new members of the Madison County Board.
On Wednesday the county board overwhelmingly rejected three proposed new members Prenzler proposed. One of the biggest complaints was there had not been enough input from board members, specifically former members who had left the board due to the Nov. 3 election and relocation.
At the meeting Madison County State’s Attorney Tom Haine advised that two of the three vacant seats must be filled by Jan. 29 to meet a 60-day deadline set by county ordinances.

EDWARDSVILLE Citing a lack of communication from Board Chairman Kurt Prenzler, the Madison County Board on Wednesday overwhelmingly shot down the appointment of three new board members.
Prenzler had nominated Valarie Doucleff for Ray Wesley’s 6th District seat, Larry Meisenheimer for Tom McRae’s 14th District seat and Dana Brockman to fill Chrissy Dutton-Wiley’s 15th District seat.
McRae and Wesley resigned Nov. 30 after McRae was elected circuit clerk and appointed Wesley as his deputy clerk. Dutton-Wiley resigned Dec. 18 because she married and moved out of her county board district.
