Donna Miles-Mojab in conversation with reader Larry Petterson, next to the Waingaro River, on his farm in Takaka. A billy is heated over the fire for Donna’s first experience of billy tea.
OPINION: I guessed it might be a letter from a reader, simply because I didn’t recognise the handwriting. “Let’s see what it says, Mum”, Oliver said while hurriedly tearing the envelope open. “Don’t read it”, I told him, almost impulsively, adding that the letter might not be very pleasant. “Mum, do you get hate mails?” Oliver asked, with a face which said he was already thinking of sharing the news with his friends (that’s teenagers for you).
