With a deadline to replace water meters in Strathroy-Caradoc drawing near, councillors have agreed to implement a $75 fee per meter reading for those who have refused to allow meter replacements.
A motion passed by councillors during their April 19 meeting authorized the additional fee once six attempts to contact a resident had been made. Those forms of contact include an introduction letter, a trifold appointment notice brochure, attempted phone calls, door hangers, a reminder letter and a final notice.

An official agreement which outlines the maintenance of Amiens Road was passed by council during the Feb. 1 regular council meeting.
The agreement confirms the commitment from the municipality of Middlesex Centre to maintain the road from Hickory Drive to Lamont Drive, while the municipality of Strathroy-Caradoc will maintain from Lamont Drive to Hickory Drive. It was created collaboratively by the manager of public works and staff of both municipalities.

“In the past it has not been handled in the form of a formal agreement,” said Strathroy-Caradoc’s CAO Fred Tranquilli. “This agreement that we’re proposing … is one that actually formalizes the obligations of the parties in respect to this boundary road. We’re recommending that staff be instructed to proceed to finalize this agreement.”
