Galene, was first seen gracing the waters of the Mediterranean before heading to the Caribbean for the winter. With sleek lines by Tim Heywood Design and a calm and light interior by Laura Sessa,
Galene has a detailed deck plan with key social spaces for up to 12 guests and 13 crew.

Galene s standout features. Another impressive aspect of her design can be found in the choice of interior lighting. Notably, the builder’s and owner’s teams were given free rein in choosing the best supplier for this important job.

How common is it to meet a namesake? There are no statistics as such, but I like to think that everyone reacts similarly when they come across someone with the same name. It’s an amusing discovery which immediately makes you feel that what you have in common won’t end there. At least that s what happened when I met Laura Sessa: despite her name being pronounced in a much more beguiling Italian tone compared to my own thick south London accent, I felt that our appreciation for all things good and practical in the world were somewhat on par.

Papa, one of the yard s latest units in its Amels 180 line. Launched in 2019 as hull
473, the vessel s naval architecture was designed in house by the shipyard. Her owner developed the bespoke colour scheme in collaboration with exterior designer Tim Heywood and the Amels design team, with her customised interiors from the drawing boards of Laura Sessa. Like all Amels 180 yachts, she features a large sundeck area, functional layout with excellent guest and crew separation, and a trans-oceanic range for extended voyages.
Photo: Giorgio BaroniThe cinema room overlooking the bow is surrounded by two-by-three-metre windows and is accessible from the foredeck, where guests can find another protected seating area. In the upper deck saloon, a bar, grand piano and a seating area help to create a central guest space nearby the informal exterior dining space, fire pit and Teppanyaki bar.
Photo: Giorgio BaroniAble to double-up as a party space, the sundeck is home to a gym, bar, sunpad area, Jacuzzi under the mast with facilities to store a Husky seaplane. The lower deck spa, massage room, Hammam and sun shower has access to the yacht s large foldout balcony on the starboard side for those wanting to jump aboard a tender â either the 11-metre limo tender, 10-metre rib or rescue tender â which can then be stored in one of the two tender garages forward and aft.
