LAUREL, DE.- One organization is hoping to get kids to choose more nutritious snacks while helping them stay active.
The Food Bank of Delaware is hosting the 13-week Healthy Childhood Project at the Laurel Public Library, aiming to introduce kids to fruit and veggies they may not be exposed to at home.
The program gives children an opportunity to sample a fruit or vegetable weekly and this week was apples.
There’s also an arts and crafts segment followed by a physical activity and organizers say the kids loved every moment of it. “It really great for kids to participate especially post-covid and working towards getting back together and getting people accustomed to seeing each other again,” said Community and Nutrition Educator Alicia Vogel.
