Two-year-old child killed in Waupaca Co. farming accident WAUPACA, Wis. (AP) – Sheriff’s officials say a 2-year-old boy has died in a farming accident in Waupaca County. Authorities say the child was riding in a skid steer loader, fell forward and was briefly pinned between the bucket and support arm. The accident happened in the Town of St. Lawrence Monday evening. The toddler was taken by medical helicopter to ThedaCare Medical Center in Neenah. He was transferred to Children’s Wisconsin hospital in Milwaukee where he died. An investigation into his death is ongoing. The boy has not been identified.

A high-speed chase beginning in Lawrence Monday afternoon took law enforcement through rural areas of Douglas and Jefferson counties before coming to an end near the intersection of 13th Street and U.S. Highway 24. Kansas Highway Patrol Technical Trooper Donald Hughes told the Journal-World police used a “tactical vehicle intervention” maneuver at the site, which is about six miles north of Lawrence city limits, to end the pursuit, which had lasted approximately an hour. Two individuals were arrested at the scene. Hughes said he did not have the suspects’ names yet, but they are expected to be booked into the Douglas County Jail. As of 6:30 p.m., the arrests had not been reported in the Douglas County booking log.
