The Stuttgart Lady Ricebirds grabbed control of the 5-4A conference race on Tuesday night with a varsity sweep of Lonoke. Both games were played at Stuttgart’s Gina Bailey Field, with the Ladybirds winning both with ease.
Game One: Stuttgart 14 Lonoke 0
A ten-run bottom of the first inning allowed the Ladybirds to make quick work of the Jackrabbits in game one. Stuttgart’s ten runs came mostly due to defensive miscues by Lonoke, as only one of Stuttgart’s ten runs was earned. For the game, Lonoke committed a total of six errors.

Stuttgart played their best half of the season in the first half on Friday night. The Ladybirds carried a 21-8 lead into the locker room and looked to be in total control of the game.
In doing so, Stuttgart limited their turnovers to nine in the first two quarters while Mya McCoy delivered six second-quarter points to lead all scorers.
Stuttgart’s defense was most impressive to watch in the first half. Using a 2-1-2 zone, the Ladybirds kept Wynne out of the lane while also doing an excellent job on the defensive glass.
