The lopsided vote against a union at Amazon’s warehouse in Bessemer, Ala., was a major disappointment to organized labor, which regards the fight with Amazon as central to labor’s survival. Yet the defeat doesn’t mark the end of the campaign against Amazon so much as a shift in strategy.

WORCESTER, Mass. Lauren Jakobs of Naples has become a member of Psi Chi, the International Honor Society in Psychology. A member of the class of 2022 at Assumption University, Jakobs was inducted during the 2020-21 academic year.
Psi Chi was founded with the purpose of encouraging, stimulating, and maintaining excellence in scholarship, and advancing the science of psychology. Membership is open to graduate and undergraduates, of sophomore, junior, or senior academic standing, who major or minor in psychology. Inductees must have completed nine semester hours of psychology courses, rank in the top 35 percent of their class, and have a minimum grade point average of 3.25.

Black Bear XC ski and snowshoe races scheduled for Feb. 21
Cross country skiers and snowshoers are invited to hit the trails Sunday, Feb. 21 for the annual Black Bear XC ski and snowshoe races on the University of Maine Trails.
The event is sponsored by UMaine Campus Recreation, the Maine Bound Adventure Center and the College of Education and Human Developmentâs Outdoor Leadership program, part of the School of Kinesiology, Physical Education and Athletic Training.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the race is limited to 45 participants, and is open only to UMaine students, faculty and staff.
Racers can participate in a 5K classic ski at 1 p.m., a 5K or 10K skate ski at 1:15 p.m., or a 2K snowshoe contest at 2:30 p.m. Preregistration is required; a link is available on the UMaine Outdoor Leadership social media pages (Facebook or Instagram).
