SERVANT s Festering Brownstone Is My Dream Home

When Servant first debuted in late 2019, the fact that the Turners rarely left their Philadelphia townhouse seemed like an effective device to amplify tension in Apple TV+’s psychological thriller. But now, 11 months into quarantine, Sean (Toby Kebbell) and Dorothy’s (Lauren Ambrose) reclusive behavior is normal. As a result, watching Servant’s second season is a decidedly different experience. I remain gripped by the Turners’ erratic unraveling. But I also find myself preoccupied by how lucky they are to at least be able to fall apart in such a beautiful brownstone. Servant has always treated the Turners’ home with as much thought as any of its equally haunted characters. The shadowy townhouse constantly teeters between stately and stifling. And while the brownstone remains a place where nightmares come true in season two, the events and increased stresses of the past year have turned the Turners’ claustrophobic cage into my quarantine fantasy.

Winter TV 2021: A Look at New and Returning Shows Featuring Indian American Actors

In the pre-pandemic era, dozens of shows on cable channels jostled for viewers’ attention. But in 2020, the coronavirus pandemic dealt a severe blow to the entertainment industry, halting, or shutting down production of almost all TV shows. And even though normalcy is yet to return, a few were able to adapt to the ever-changing scenarios and begin shooting in controlled environments. Who knows how long this phase will last, but for now, viewers can enjoy new seasons of familiar TV shows as well as brand new series, some of which either star Indian American actors, or, are created by Indian American filmmakers.

CONSTRUCT: Warm Up the Winter Call to Action Concert

The 45-minute online event is emceed by Construct Executive Director Jane Ralph and board member Barney Stein. There will be music by The Wanda Houston Band along with vignettes from Construct clients and community members including appearances by actors and Construct supporters, Chris Noth and Lauren Ambrose.   This year s event will honor professional singer, actress, and song stylist Wanda Houston for her  contributions to the annual winter benefit since its inception by Rabbi Deborah Zecher and the community at Hevreh 15 years ago.    Warm Up the Winter proceeds go directly to community members in need of emergency assistance for fuel, utility, and rental payments, including covering emergency accommodation costs and, this year, keeping those who are homeless safe.
