Dong Thap shines in PCI tally 17:04 | 19/04/2021
The Mekong Delta province of Dong Thap has maintained its second position in the Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI) ranking 2020, doing so for the fifth time. To mark the achievement, Pham Thien Nghia, Chairman of Dong Thap Peopleâs Committee, lifted the curtain on the provinceâs recent efforts to improve the local investment and business environment.
The PCI has just been released by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry in tandem with the US International Development Agency. How would you evaluate its findings for 2020?

A long-haul bus crashes into two utility poles and a tree after colliding with 10 cyclists in Dong Thap Province, southern Vietnam, March 1, 2021. Photo: Phuc Hien
Three people died on Monday in a crash where a long-haul bus slammed into a group of cyclists in southern Vietnam.
Two of the dead were the bus passengers, said police in Dong Thap Province, where the accident happened.
The crash occurred in Lai Vung District at 5:00 am on Monday, when the bus crashed into ten cyclists before veering onto the other side of the road, according to a police report.
The bus continued to slam into two utility poles and a tree along the road before coming to a complete halt.

The province has around 100 community-based tourism areas, mostly situated in Cao Lãnh and Sa Đéc cities, and Lai Vung, Tam Nông and Tháp Mười districts. “The province’s approval aims to turn Đồng Tháp into a popular and attractive destination for tourists and even tourism agencies,” Ngô Quang Tuyên, deputy director of the province’s Culture, Sports and Tourism Department, said.
