Latest COVID update Feb 8: 2 deaths, 171 new cases, 328 recoveries

(Lisa Schick/980 CJME file photo) The extreme cold in Saskatchewan is slowing the flow of COVID-19 vaccines in the province. For the second straight day, the Ministry of Health said the weather was one of the reasons for low vaccination numbers on Sunday. There were 509 doses administered in the province due to what the government called “extreme weather and reporting delays.” Those kept the numbers under targeted levels. The total number of vaccinations done to date in Saskatchewan reached 42,987. The government also announced there were 171 new cases, 328 recoveries and two deaths due to COVID. The deaths of a person in their 50s and an individual in their 70s both from the northwest zone increased the total number of COVID-related deaths in Saskatchewan to 341 since March.
