National judoka qualified for Tel Aviv Grand Slam final

Azerbaijani judoka Davud Mammadsoy (60kg) has qualified for the final of Tel Aviv Grand Slam 2021. Mammadsoy defeated German Moritz Plafky, Indian Vijay Kumar, Kazakh Gusman Kyrgyzbayev and Russian Ramazan Abdullayev. Notably, Tel Aviv Grand Slam 2021 brings together more than 400 fighters from 60 countries. The International Judo Federation (IJF) selected Tel Aviv to host one of its iconic Grand Slam tournaments in February 2021.  Israel has hosted the IJF s marquee Grand Prix tournament in Tel Aviv for the past two years. In 2018, Israel also hosted the European Judo Championships. Founded in 1972, the Azerbaijan Judo Federation actively promotes this martial art across the country. Since 2015, the Federation has been headed by Rovnag Abdullayev.

Days of Azerbaijani cinema to be held in Kazan

Days of Azerbaijani cinema will be held in Kazan in March as part of Panorama film festival. The Panorama Film Festival will run from February 21 to December 12.  The film festival is organized by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Assembly and the House of Friendship of the Peoples of Tatarstan together with Tatarkino . Azerbaijani cinema has come to be an internationally recognized modern art enjoying a huge popularity and recognition at international film festivals, which frequently award the national films. Over the past years, more than 300 films and 1,200 documentaries, as well as hundreds of cartoons were filmed.

National para-athlete claims Grand Prix gold

(MENAFN - AzerNews) By Laman Ismayilova Azerbaijani para-athlete Heydar Hamidli has won a gold medal at the Dubai 2021 World Para-Athletics Grand Prix in the United Arab Emirates. Heydar Hamidli climbed to the highest step of the pedestal with a result of 43 meters 75 cm, Report informed. The para-athlete achieved it in the F57 category in javelin throwing. The Dubai 2021 Grand Prix brought together 471 athletes from 52 countries. It was12th edition of the Fazza International Championships in UAE, which has been part of the World Para Athletics Grand Prix since the series was launched in 2013. Azerbaijan s National Paralympic team has made great achievements over the past few years.
