Man arrested after north Stockton traffic stop yields stolen weapon, police say [The Record, Stockton, Calif]
STOCKTON Police arrested a man for a firearms-related charge early Saturday morning after searching a vehicle.
According to the Stockton Police Department, officers were patrolling the area of Cordova Lane and Villa Drive in north Stockton at 4 a.m. Saturday morning when they heard several gunshots and observed a vehicle speeding away from the scene.
The vehicle was stopped and a search revealed a pistol that had previously been reported stolen. The driver, 40-year-old Lamont Montgomery, was arrested on suspicion of a firearms-related charge. Montgomery was booked shortly after 7 a.m. at the San Joaquin County Jail, and is being held in lieu of $250,000 bail.
