A large number of vehicles were seized by the police on the first day of lockdown in Hubballi on Monday.
The first day of lockdown in Dharwad district saw vehicles being seized in large numbers as the Police Commissioner and Superintendent of Police themselves swung into action, in a bid to ensure strict implementation of the guidelines.
As per the guidelines, people were not to use vehicles unless it was found absolutely necessary. However, the police found many people out on the streets either on their two-wheelers or driving their four-wheelers and on enquiry many of them were not able to give a justifiable reason for the use of the vehicle. Consequently, several of such vehicles were seized.

Minister for Large and Medium Industries Jagadish Shettar has said that efforts are on to get further allocation of medical oxygen for the State and for the purpose, the State is in regular touch with Railway Minister Piyush Goyal.
Speaking at a review meeting on COVID-19 scenario in Dharwad district and lockdown implementation, at the Hubballi Circuit House on Monday, Mr. Shettar said that a coordinated effort involving all Deputy Commissioners of the districts is being done to ensure systematic and timely supply of oxygen for COVID-19 treatment.

Considering the hardships being faced by porters and other manual staff at the Hubballi Railway Station due to the partial lockdown, members of the Jain community distributed foodgrains required for 15 days among them on Wednesday.
Additional Director-General of Railway Police Bhaskar Rao and Hubballi Dharwad Police Commissioner Labhu Ram initiated the distribution programme at Sri Siddharoodh Swami Railway Station, Hubballi, in the presence of the former chairman of Sri Siddharoodh Swami Mutt Trust Committee and member of Zonal Railway Users Consultative Committee Mahendra Singhi and others.

Minister for Large and Medium Industries and district in-charge Jagadish Shettar has appealed to medical professionals not to misuse the helplessness of COVID-19 positive patients and their family members by exerting pressure on them to pay more than the treatment cost fixed by the government.
Chairing a meeting of management boards of private hospitals and nodal officers appointed to coordinate with private hospitals in Dharwad on Friday, Mr. Shettar said that with a surge in COVID-19 cases several patients were finding it difficult to pay treatment fees in private hospitals and he would appeal to medical professionals to cooperate with the government in breaking the chain of transmission and also in the treatment of the patients.
Administration has taken requisite steps to face any eventuality, says Shettar
COVID-19 positivity rate in Dharwad district is around 11%, which is less when compared to other districts, and even during its peak, it has not crossed 15%, Minister for Large and Medium Industries Minister and district-in-charge Jagadish Shettar has said.
Speaking to presspersons in Dharwad after participating in a video conference with the Chief Minister on Thursday, Mr. Shettar said that the district administration was effectively handling the situation. It had also taken the requisite measures to face the situation in the eventuality of a surge in COVID-19 cases.
Mr. Shettar said that at present, Dharwad district had 3,489 active cases and of them, 2,486 patients were under home isolation. A total of 1,212 patients were admitted to different hospitals in the district and among them, 228 were from other districts, he said.
